Levels of Service
Depending upon the complexity of your proposal, the ERI Pre-Award Team will be available to assist you in the following ways:
ERI Pre-award Services
Level 1
Proposals with standard guidelines and forms
- ISU is Sub-awardee
- $0 (pre-) proposal
- Foundation proposals
- NSF Collaborative Proposal (non-lead)
- Internal Funding/Industry proposal (no Cost Share)
Submit request support at least 13 business days before deadline.*
Level 2
Proposals with simple cost share or non-standard sponsors, and no subs
- DoD, DoE, Foundation, NASA, NIH, NSF, and USDA
- Internal proposal with Cost Share
- Industry with Federal flow-thru and Cost Share
Submit request support at least 18 business days before deadline.*
Level 3
Proposals with subs and /or cost share, complex guideline/budget templates
- DoD, DoE, Foundation, NASA, NIH, NSF, and USDA
- Award Transfer
- Very complex and unusual solicitation with multiple subs
- Large Cost Share commitment
Submit request support at least 23 business days before deadline.*
*OSPA review date is eight days before the deadline.
Service Request (SR) submitted after the deadlines listed above will be evaluated; ERI support may be limited.

Editorial Assistance from ERI
ERI will review project narratives and proposal summaries/abstracts for:
- grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure
- solicitation and review criteria
- coherence, clarity, and consistency
