Meet the Cosmic Snowballs: a team that embodies positivity, resilience, and sportsmanship with everything they do.

The Cosmic Snowballs will be heading to Worcester, Massachusetts to compete at WAFFLE, a global post-season competition. After only competing together for two years, this team will represent Iowa internationally for the second year in a row.

Creativity, collaboration, and vision are this team’s strengths, qualities that assist their growth and development. Coaches Patrick and Kelsey have seen their team grow significantly with their design process.

“Last year, all being rookies, the kids had a hard time letting go of their first idea to properly iterate and improve. This year, however, they have embraced the process and were quick to change ideas that weren’t working as consistently or efficiently as they wanted.”

Additionally, team culture is very important to the Cosmic Snowballs. “We’re all friends outside of this group, so spending time together is always fun. We know each other well enough to know how to work through disagreements when they come up. We also have a TON of inside jokes, so we’re always laughing about something,” team members say.

Staying level-headed in the face of intense competition is something that this team is consistent at, as well as taking pride in their work, no matter the outcome.

The Cosmic Snowballs are eagerly preparing for WAFFLE, something that is bittersweet for them, as it will be their last time competing together before moving on to FRC. Luckily, they still plan on volunteering for FLL.

Be sure to keep a lookout for the great things that this team will accomplish in the future!
