Why Engineering: In high school, I ended up taking chemistry and engineering course, which I really enjoyed. Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering allows me to really study what I enjoy. Learning about different chemical reactions in industry plants as well as chemical reactions that happen in the body. I choose to major in Chemical Engineering due to the vast opportunities I can possibly go into. My parents have always pushed me to be hardworking and dream big, which has allowed me to believe that I can do it.

Favorite ISU Memory: Being a part of Admissions Outreach Ambassadors gives me the opportunity to talk to potential multicultural students and their families. My favorite event to help is Latino Family visit day. At this event, several Hispanic students come to learn about the opportunities at ISU, all in Spanish. Not only am I able to directly relate to these students, but I am able to speak my native language. Talking about my perspective as a Hispanic woman in engineering shows these students that they are not alone and that they can do it too.

Something Unique About Me: Here at ISU, I am a part of the Women’s Rugby Club. Not only is it a team but they are my family. Being a part of a team comprised of strong confident women who push to be better on and off the field has built my confidence in academics and personal life. While I tackle and ruck, I also learn about passion, discipline, and communication.

Words of Wisdom: Be confident. Speak your mind and do not be afraid to ask for help. There are resources and people who want you to succeed. Surround yourself with people who build you in and challenge you. My parents have always taught me if I start something always finish it.
