About LEAD Initiatives

Leadership through Engineering Academic Diversity (LEAD) Initiatives provides services and programming to assist members of unique undergraduate populations with a primary focus on retention of scholars in the College of Engineering and at Iowa State University.

LEAD Initiatives has been recognized by Insight into Diversity with the 2023 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award for being an “exemplary and innovative initiative designed to recruit and retain underrepresented individuals in STEM.”

LEAD Initiatives aim to enhance the experiences of engineering scholars through unique opportunities focused on academic, professional, and social development and success.

LEAD Initiatives strive to increase the number of successful multicultural, international, and women engineering graduates by helping scholars get connected, become leaders, earn higher grades, graduate sooner, and become better prepared for a career as an engineer.
