Information

Chris Day is an associate professor of civil engineering at Iowa State University. His research background is generally in the areas of transportation operations and intelligent transportation systems. Specific focuses of Dr. Day’s current research include the following topics:
  • Applications of novel data sets (such as vehicle telematics) in traffic control, transportation operations, and data-driven performance measures and analytics
  • Documenting and improving the state of the practice in transportation operations
  • Enhancing adaptive control of hierarchical and decentralized traffic control systems with the integration of new data sources and analytical techniques at different time scales
  • Incorporating new data sources and associated methodological and analytical concepts into transportation education
