The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) was the first Iowa State University engineering department to establish a 2+2 program with Lanzhou in 2004. The first students arrived at Iowa State in fall 2006. Since than time, more than 85 from Lanzhou have enrolled in CCEE at Iowa State. Approximately 60 more students in China are preparing to come to Iowa State in the next two years. In 2009, the first three students entered the environmental engineering program in CCEE.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering established its 2+2 program with Lanzhou in 2009. The first group of students are expected to enter the program in fall 2011.
