Professional Development Program

A nine-week program developed specifically for undergraduate engineering international students. Spring 2018 was the first semester for PDP with fourteen students participating. Given the positive feedback from students, the Professional Development Program (PDP) will continue for for 2018-2019 academic year. Look for applications and more information in August.

 Spring 2018 Highlights

  • Program Run: February 13 –April 17, 2018
  • Fourteen participants were involved and meet one-on-one with the student coordinator to review their resume, practice elevator pitch, and discuss internship and job searches.
  • Weekly Meetings were held from 3:10-5pm in Howe Hall and covered the following topics: Marketing Yourself, Resume and Cover Letter Development, Designing an Elevator Pitch, Networking, Job Search Nuts and Bolts for International Students, Strengths Quest Inventories and how to use your strengths, Leadership Styles, and Types of Interviews (STAR, 1st/2nd Round, and informational)
  • Danfoss Industry Visit
  • Each student who finished the program received an Iowa State University portfolio and certificate
