Emerging Leaders in Engineering Emerging Leaders in Engineering (ELE) is a student organization at Iowa State University that creates a space for students in engineering to interact and work with each other to develop leadership skills, as well as, help each other with class work. We focus on soft skills not covered in most classes that make a big difference in the professional world. Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers The Institute for Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) provides a means for students and professionals to keep up to date on the latest trends in the Industrial Engineering profession. This is done through monthly speakers, plant tours, seminars and competitions, and an IISE Conference which is held in the spring. Members are highly recommended to join the National Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers, where they receive benefits such as the ability to write IISE on their resume, access to valuable connections, professional development and career preparation, a one year subscription to the IISE magazine, exclusive scholarship and job board access, the ability to attend the Annual Regional Conference, and monetary benefits when attending special events within IISE. Material Advantage The Material Advantage Student Chapter at Iowa State University provides students with opportunities for networking, professional development, and educational advancement within the field of materials science and engineering. Additionally, we actively engage in outreach programs to K-12 students, promoting awareness and interest in materials engineering as a viable career option. National Material Advantage is a student organization dedicated to promoting materials science and engineering. It’s a collaboration between four leading materials organizations: the American Ceramic Society (ACerS), the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST), ASM International, and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). National Society of Black Engineers The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is an international professional organization with an Iowa State student run chapter that promotes the development and retention of all, especially underrepresented and multicultural, students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related curricula. Solar Car Team PrISUm is a multidisciplinary student organization that designs, builds, and races solar powered electric vehicles. We encourage students from all majors and backgrounds to join and help us build and race this innovative vehicle. SolidWorks and CAD Club SolidWorks and CAD club was created to grant students the opportunity to enhance their CAD skills, network and collaborate with students from various fields, and gain advice from student and industry speakers. The club welcomes members of all skill levels and with experience in any CAD and programming software. Overall, the majority of attention will be focused on SolidWorks in order to improve club members abilities in the industry leading software and provide the opportunity to earn a CSWA(Certified Solidworks Associate) or CSWP(Certified Solidworks Professional) Certification! Transportation Student Association The Transportation Student Association is the parent organization of the chapters of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the Intelligent Transportation Systems of America (ITS|A) at Iowa State. This organization cultivates the advancement of transportation ideas through interactions with members of academia, industry, and the public through meetings, sponsored conferences, and outreach initiatives.
