2017 -2018

The Improve You program kicked off the 2017-2018 program year with a hosted lunch and presentation in the Memorial Union on August 29, 2017. Attendees participated in a networking activity to meet other people in the program, and then the College of Engineering’s Dean, Sarah Rajala, spoke to the group regarding the topic of leadership. Dean Rajala shared personal stories about her grandfather’s life and experiences of leadership he witnessed working under Sir Ernest Shackleton on the ship the Endurance in the early 1900s.

The October lunch and learn started with a fun networking activity where attendees described their first job. The guest speaker was ISU’s Director of Compensation & Classification, Emma Houghton.  As our guest speaker, Emma spoke on the topic of career development for staff. Emma shared her personal career path story and she described the different paths of career development someone may experience. The book ‘Who Moved my Cheese’ served as a resource.
