Tom Allnutt

Dr. F. C. Thomas Allnutt is Sr. VP of Research and Development at Phycal Inc.  Prior to joining Phycal in 2008 he was a Program Director and Biotechnology Cluster Leader in the SBIR/STTR Program (Small Business Innovative Research/Small Business Technology Transfer) at the National Science Foundation.  In addition to this governmental experience Dr. Allnutt spent over 20 years the algal biotech/biofuels small business community.  He was an early employee of Martek Biosciences Corporation where he was a Research Director for over twelve years.  He was VP of Research & Development at ABN Corp and the third employee; he spent six years with ABN.  Dr. Allnutt’s area of expertise is algal biotechnology but he has acquired broad knowledge in related areas and the business of science as he commercialized algal products in a variety of fields.  He has over 17 patents filed or pending and has published over 28 papers in peer reviewed journals.
