Why Engineering: Being a mechanical engineer has been my dream since I was 5 years old. I love solving problems and finding creative solutions. Someone once told me that being an engineer is one of the best ways to have a meaningful impact on people’s lives. I strive to help people and hope that my work will affect many people positively.

Favorite ISU Memory: Working in Media Research Lab for Dr. Gentile, I learned a lot about research and met a lot of wonderful people. Dr. Gentile is such a good mentor. Working with Student Accessibility Services. They are a lifesaver. Thank you, Ms. Wendy Stevenson.

Something Unique About Me: I am an immigrant, a single father, and a first-generation college graduate with a disability. Unlike many other featured students with high achievements, the road to becoming an engineer has been a rough, rocky, and continuously uphill battle. My story is a story of perseverance and determination.

Words of Wisdom: You will find yourself at rock bottom one after another, faced with more and more hills to climb. But if you want to achieve your dreams, endure the struggle, and you will be rewarded. I believe that Thomas Edison was not wrong when he said that success is 1% aspiration and 99% perspiration. Because that is what it takes to be an engineer.
