“Healthcare is a complex environment where integrating device data into the electronic medical record is necessary to provide great patient care. Synthesizing data from devices in a meaningful way for clinicians to interpret and patients to understand is a challenging problem. In addition to conventional devices like bedside monitors, we are seeing an explosion in self-monitoring devices like wifi-enabled weight scales, smartphone-enabled blood glucose meters, etc. This talk focuses on device integrations at Epic. During this talk, we will discuss three areas where device integrations affect patient care: hospital device integration, devices in the home and medical imaging integration. A specific scenario will be presented in each area covering the workflow, how it affects patient care, the technical challenges and Epic’s approach to overcoming these challenges.”
Epic makes software for mid-size and large medical groups, hospitals and integrated healthcare organizations – working with customers that include community hospitals, academic facilities, children’s organizations, safety net providers and multi-hospital systems.
The Engineers’ Week team looks forward to seeing you there!
