Employers are encouraged to allow additional time when requested.&nbsp; Information on requesting additional time to consider an offer can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineering.iastate.edu\/ecs\/students\/the-employment-process\/step-8-evaluate-offers\/time-for-consideration-and-asking-for-more-time\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employment Contract Acceptance and Commitment<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<p>Once an offer has been accepted, an individual should be prepared to keep their commitment and decline any future offers.&nbsp; All job searching activities including resume submission and interviewing should cease.&nbsp; Individuals who accept positions and later renege on their commitments not only harm their reputations and future employment prospects, but they also damage the reputation of ISU and this has a negative effect on future recruiting plans of employers.&nbsp; Reneging also results in a loss of employment opportunities for those classmates that were next in line to be offered the positions.&nbsp; Individuals who renege on employment commitments, when the employers allowed two weeks to consider the offer, will lose access to CyHire and their ability to participate in on-campus interviews until they meet with Engineering Career Services.&nbsp; If the employer would not allow a minimum of two weeks to consider an offer, a student may petition the Director of Engineering Career Services for privileges to be reinstated.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On-Campus Interview Cancellation and No-Show Policy<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<p>Students should provide the employer and Engineering Career Services 48-hours or more notice if they need to cancel an on-campus interview.&nbsp; When proper notice is not received, the missed interview is considered a \u201cno-show\u201d.&nbsp; In the case of illness or an emergency, call Engineering Career Services (515-294-2540) as soon as possible. &nbsp;If this is not more than 48 hours prior to the interview, it will be treated as a \u201cno-show\u201d. &nbsp;However, by following the \u201cno-show\u201d policy, it may be possible to maintain a positive relationship with the company and reschedule the interview.&nbsp; The decision to reschedule is at the discretion of the company.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\">\n\t<div class=\"text-content\">\n\t\t<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\">\n<div class=\"text-content\">\n<p><strong>No-Show Procedure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">The student\u2019s CyHire account will be blocked making the student unable to schedule additional on-campus interviews until an apology email is sent. \u00a0NOTE: any previously scheduled interviews should be kept or cancelled appropriately.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">To remove the block from CyHire, an apology email will need to be sent to the recruiter. \u00a0Contact information is available in 3200 Marston Hall. \u00a0This information cannot be obtained by email or phone call. \u00a0Copy ecs@iastate.edu in this email, so our office is aware that the apology has been delivered. \u00a0This will result in the CyHire account being unblocked.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">If an apology email is not sent within three business days of the missed interview, your CyHire account will be disabled and you will be unable to log in. \u00a0The account will remain blocked and disabled until the apology letter is sent to the recruiter with ECS copied.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">If any additional interviews are missed, the above procedure will be followed, and an appointment will need to be scheduled with the Director of Engineering Career Services to discuss professional conduct.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assisting Employers with Recruiting Efforts<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<p>The College of Engineering has a set of policies that were developed to ensure that all students have equal employment opportunities and that the recruiting environment at ISU is fair and equitable to all employers.&nbsp; Engineering Career Services&nbsp;is the College&#8217;s official designate for all on-campus recruiting activity including, but not limited to, job postings, resume books, career fairs, information sessions, networking events, and on-campus interviewing.&nbsp;&nbsp;Students and student organizations are highly encouraged to collaborate with employers on educational and professional development activities, which will naturally result in some networking and name recognition that will benefit the recruiting efforts of employers.&nbsp;
