{"id":5884,"date":"2015-10-09T09:57:15","date_gmt":"2015-10-09T14:57:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.engineering.iastate.edu\/ecs\/?page_id=5884"},"modified":"2024-06-28T12:21:41","modified_gmt":"2024-06-28T17:21:41","slug":"the-recruiting-process-at-isu","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.engineering.iastate.edu\/ecs\/faculty-and-staff-guidance\/the-recruiting-process-at-isu\/","title":{"rendered":"The Recruiting Process at ISU"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n<div class=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--text-html\"><div class=\"text-content\">\n<p>The process for recruiting students for employment primarily involves the four activities listed below.&nbsp; These services are offered to all employers seeking to fill engineering-related, professional positions (post-graduation, co-ops, and internships).&nbsp; With the exception of the career fairs, there is no cost to the employers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"paragraph-widget paragraph-widget--accordion\">\n\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-flush\" id=\"accordionFlush4962\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"flush-heading_4962_1\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-target=\"#flush-collapse_4962_1\" aria-expanded=\"false\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\taria-controls=\"flush-collapse_4962_1\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPromoting employment opportunities by posting on our electronic job board (CyHire)\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"flush-collapse_4962_1\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\t aria-labelledby=\"flush-heading_4962_1\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordionFlush4962\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body text-content\"><p>All students at ISU have access to CyHire, and alumni can request free access.\u00a0 The Department of Labor requires that all employment opportunities be posted in the system to help ensure equal employment opportunity compliance.\u00a0 Once an employer has posted a position in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cyhire.iastate.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CyHire,<\/a> they can work with faculty, staff and student organizations to further spread the word about the position.\u00a0\u00a0CyHire should be the student\u2019s primary source of employment information since it is comprehensive, and employers that post opportunities on CyHire are particularly interested in hiring an ISU engineer.\u00a0 If an employer informs you of an\u00a0employment opportunity, please forward this information to\u00a0Engineering Career Services (<a href=\"mailto:ecs@iastate.edu\">ecs@iastate.edu<\/a>) and we will work\u00a0with the employer\u00a0to get the position\u00a0posted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"flush-heading_4962_2\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-target=\"#flush-collapse_4962_2\" aria-expanded=\"false\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\taria-controls=\"flush-collapse_4962_2\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tParticipating in career fairs\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"flush-collapse_4962_2\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\t aria-labelledby=\"flush-heading_4962_2\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordionFlush4962\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body text-content\"><p>The College of Engineering hosts career fairs each semester with over 100s of employers participating. The fall career fairs are held in mid-September and the spring career fairs are held in early February. Thousands of interviews are conducted as a result of connections made at each career fair.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"accordion-header\" id=\"flush-heading_4962_3\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdata-bs-target=\"#flush-collapse_4962_3\" aria-expanded=\"false\"\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\taria-controls=\"flush-collapse_4962_3\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tHolding information sessions and other networking events\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"flush-collapse_4962_3\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\"\n\t\t\t\t\t aria-labelledby=\"flush-heading_4962_3\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordionFlush4962\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-body text-content\"><p>Information sessions typically involve a 20 to 40 minute presentation by a company representative followed by a Q &amp; A period.
