Maintain a Positive Attitude

Before we get started with the employment process, let’s touch on the importance of attitude since it is so important.  It is important to maintain a positive attitude even though the job search process can become discouraging at times. Don’t underestimate the effect of a positive attitude. You may have difficulty connecting with an employer or may not receive a return phone call or email that was promised.  Try not to get frustrated when things are not going as quickly as hoped or as planned.  If you do not get an interview or an offer, do not take it personally.  Remember that different employers have different needs and they are seeking a person that is a good match for their organization.  A rejection from one organization does not indicate an inadequacy in you.  If you have a concern or question about your resume, cover letter, or interviewing skills have Engineering Career Services review these to remove any doubt that you have.   It is important to remain confident and keep trying.
