Brief Biography:
Dr. Jiang has extensive training and implementation on Active Learning and Inductive Teaching (ALIT) approaches from the National Effective Teaching Institute (NETI) workshops and in his own pedagogy. He has also been leading an Innovations in Graduate Education (NSF-IGE) proposal effort. Dr. Jiang has taught 3 polymer courses in the MSE department, including both lab and lecture courses. He has first-hand experience at improving existing courses using ALIT approaches. The student outcome and course rating improved drastically after Jiang adopted these more effective teaching methods. In addition, Dr. Jiang often draws on his prior experience in industry, using examples and demos, to help students connect textbook content with industry practice. Email | Department Profile

 

Monica Lamm

Monica Lamm

Associate Professor
Chemical and Biological Engineering

Brief Biography:
Dr. Lamm is the CELT Faculty Fellow for Faculty Programming. She is working to expand CELT’s faculty programming, including the development of a Teaching and Learning Academy for newer faculty members and leadership of the Teaching Partners program. Monica joined the Iowa State faculty in 2003. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University, New York, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees from North Carolina State University, Raleigh. Lamm has received numerous Iowa State teaching awards and has worked with CELT to develop team-based learning to enhance student success.
