Providing Experiences in Research for Undergraduate Students in Engineering (PERUSE)

High-speed Topography Imaging and Viscoelastic Measurement of Soft Materials

Project Title: High-speed Topography Imaging and Viscoelastic Measurement of Soft Materials

Brief description of project: Image topography and measure mechanical properties of soft samples at high-speed by applying advanced control algorithms to scanning probe microscope.

Appropriate Student Majors or Programs:
Chemical & Biological; Electrical; Materials; Mechanical

What are anticipated student tasks and responsibilities?

Student(s) will be learning the use of the scanning probe microscope (SPM) for nano-scale imaging and measurement, and help graduate students to test advanced control techniques on SPM to image and measure soft materials such as polymer or biological samples.

Hours of work offered per week: 11-15
