Leadership through Engineering Academic Diversity

Summer Program for Enhancing Engineering Development

Earn $200 a week (total $1600 for the 8 weeks) while enhancing math and physics skills as well as interacting with industry, developing a peer-network, and acclimating to the university environment.

The Summer Program for Enhancing Engineering Development (SPEED) is an eight-week intensive summer program for engineering incoming first-year students at Iowa State University. This academic program will help students become acclimated to life on campus and the rigors of engineering studies during the summer before their freshmen year.

In addition to taking preparation courses, SPEED students are involved in a variety of professional and personal development activities including:

·        professional development workshops offered by several Fortune 500 corporations

·        develop social connections and a support structure with peers

·        meeting and networking with faculty and staff committed to students' transition and adjustment to university life and the Iowa State University campus

It is our goal to increase students' academic and professional success in engineering.
