Career Development Presentation Requests

Engineering Career Services is always looking for opportunities to educate students about career-related topics. We are very interested in serving as a guest presenter when there is an opportunity. We are happy to present to classes, learning communities, student organizations, and other groups here at Iowa State University. We’ll even fill in when an instructor needs to miss class due to an unavoidable conflict. To arrange a presentation for your class, please complete our presentation request survey. We will do our best to fulfill any requests. The further in advance we know, the more likely it is we will be able to fulfill your request.

Some of the topics we could present to your group include:

  • Preparing for the Engineering Career Fair
  • Resumes
  • Interviewing
  • Cover Letters
  • Understanding Employers
  • Co-ops & Internships
  • Offer Evaluation & Negotiation
  • Job Search
  • Pursuing Graduate School
  • And More!

Depending on time, we may be able to present on multiple topics. If a topic you would like presented is not listed, we’d be happy to discuss your needs.

Unsure if you have time to fit a Career Development Presentation into your class or group’s schedule?

We have several options available that may work such as:

  • Schedule a 10 minute presentation for an overview of our services with 5 minutes for questions.
  • Encourage your students to attend an upcoming ECS career development presentation.
    • A full list can be found here or in the events section of CyHire.
  • Consider sharing a few slides that promote our career resources and remind students about things to focus on during their freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior years.
  • If you are interested in these options, have questions, or are looking for other options just email us at ecs@iastate.edu.
