Recruiting ISU Engineers

  • Scheduling a Recruiting Visit to ISU—We welcome all companies who have engineering related summer, internship, co-op, or full-time employment opportunities to contact our office to discuss on-campus interview opportunities. Please call the Engineering Career Services office at 515 294-2540 to find out more about our recruitment services.
  • Tips to Make Your Recruiting Trip Easier
    • Location of Interviews: Interviews are held on the 3rd Floor of Marston Hall. Recruiters are asked to check in with ECS office staff in 308 Marston. Upon check-in, we will ask for a business card from each company representative. The interview schedule(s) will be given to the recruiters and they will then be escorted to their interview room.
    • Parking: Parking is available in the Memorial Union parking ramp for $4.25–5.00 per day (free to Union guests). The ramp is a 10-minute walk from the Career Services Office. Please visit www.fpm.iastate.edu/maps.
    • Lodging and Dining: The Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau maintains an up-to-date listing of lodging and dining in the Ames area as well as information on weather and area maps.
    • Information Meetings: Pre-interview meetings are still popular recruiting techniques. Whether held two weeks prior to your visit or the evening before, we will be happy to announce your meeting. To make reservations for a meeting in the Memorial Union, contact the Reservations Office, 210 Memorial Union, Ames, IA 50011, or 515 294-1437. If you should need to cancel your information meeting, it is the company's responsibility to do so by contacting the Reservations Office as soon as you know you need to cancel. You will be billed otherwise.
    • Advertisement: To advertise your company or your visit, you may wish to contact the ISU Daily campus newspaper at 515 294-4120. They will give you rates and copy guidelines.
    • Student Organizations: Technical presentations at student organization meetings often stimulate interest in your industry or company. Student program chairs often search for speakers early each semester. If you would like to volunteer to participate, contact organization faculty sponsors listed on the Engineering Student Organizations web page.

    • Directions: Suggested route from Des Moines Airport and directions to Marston Hall.
